The O’Connor Institute hosts screenings of films and documentaries related to our nation’s history and democracy. Following the screening, moderated public discussions follow to encourage citizen participation and their perspectives. Films range from a variety of topics and issues to enlighten, educate.
Camp O’Connor is a free, merit-based summer program for middle school students providing civics education and leadership development. Participants gain a greater understanding of our democracy and their important role as citizens.
The O’Connor Institute civic engagement laboratory gathers stakeholders concerning issues or topics to explore solutions. We build partnerships to promote civil discussion and cooperative problem solving for the betterment of society.
As Debate is no longer consistently taught in schools, the O’Connor Institute provides instruction dedicated to the important need for debate and civil discourse in developing future leaders.
The Sandra Day O’Connor Institute Internship program provides opportunities for exceptional high school and college students to engage and participate with the O’Connor Institute throughout the year. Each Internship experience is designed around the interests of the student in conjunction with the needs of the Institute. Internship length is one or two semesters.
The O’Connor Institute sponsors the Sandra Day O’Connor Scholarship to benefit gifted law students at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Each year, one exceptional O’Connor Scholar is selected for this honorable designation.
