Five Scholarships Will Be Awarded

The Deloitte Foundation Arizona Scholars program benefits five O’Connor Institute Ambassador high school seniors from Arizona who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, civil debate skills, and civics knowledge. This page provides an overview and requirements for this opportunity.

Scholarship applications for 2026 will be accepted from January 15 to May 8, 2026.

Finalists, which are selected by the Institute, will be notified by the Institute within one (1) week of the submission deadline for additional material verification.

The 2026 Deloitte Foundation Arizona Scholars will be announced on June 1, 2026.

Application Requirements:

Student Eligibility:

12th-grade student currently enrolled as an O'Connor Institute Ambassador who has participated in the 2025-2026 program and attended a minimum of two meetings.
An Unofficial Transcript with GPA
Demonstrated community service during high school
Set to graduate in spring 2026
Selected participants must have the ability to reside in the United States and the intention to pursue career opportunities in the United States after graduating from the University.

Essay Submission:

A written essay, no more than 1000 words, will be required for submission. The 2026 theme is:

Justice Sandra Day O’Connor believed that the strength of democracy rests in the hands of informed and engaged citizens. The promise of a flourishing democracy endures only when citizens are curious, informed, and committed to participation—just as it did at the nation’s founding 250 years ago.

Describe one specific moment, activity, or community experience that shaped how you understand your role as a citizen today. How has that experience influenced how you hope to contribute to America's civic fabric?

Community Service:

Student participates in one or more extracurricular activities at their school or in the community (e.g., Scouts). Students will be required to provide details of their service, and if selected as a finalist, they will be asked to provide contact information to confirm their hours/participation.
