The Story of the U.S. Constitution: Past and Present
You are invited to join the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute as we sponsor this rare opportunity to hear from some of the nation’s most acclaimed Constitutional scholars and award-winning authors. The panel discussion will feature Yale professors Akhil Reed Amar and David Blight in conversation with National Constitution Center President Jeffrey Rosen. Together, they’ll explore the Constitution along with Supreme Court decisions that have shaped America from its founding to today.

U.S. Constitution Teacher Workshop:
Date: Sunday, June 22 - Friday, June 27, 2025
Additionally, the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy, in collaboration with the National Constitution Center and the Organization of American Historians, is pleased to sponsor a week-long educator intensive. Held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the workshop is designed for 6th – 12th-grade social studies educators to learn more about the history of the U.S. Constitution.

The week’s programming highlights will include:
- A deep dive into the drafting of the Constitution and the amendments that shaped American history during the Civil War and Reconstruction;
- Discussions with constitutional scholars, legal experts, and historians on the origins of key components of constitutional history and their modern interpretations and relevance today;
- And the opportunity to explore the Center’s exhibits, historic sites, and cultural institutions around Historic Philadelphia.
