Camp O’Connor is a free, merit-based summer program for middle school students providing civics education and leadership development. Participants gain a greater understanding of our democracy and their important role as citizens.
The inaugural Camp O’Connor will be held June 5-9, 2017. This day camp is open to incoming 7th and 8th grade students in the Greater Phoenix area. Future Camp O’Connor sessions will welcome campers from around the country for a weeklong overnight camp.

As Arizona was the 48th state to enter the Union, 48 students will be selected from applications received to attend the inaugural Camp O’Connor. Campers will develop leadership skills and greater knowledge of our nation’s democracy. The program will also include hands-on experience to witness civics in action.
The goal of Camp O’Connor is to educate, inspire and encourage the next generation of leaders to develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for our democracy and their important role as citizens.
