2026 John Jay Fetzer Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The Institute is pleased to announce that Eli Kagel of Brookline, Massachusetts, has been selected as a 2026 recipient of this prestigious $5,000 scholarship.
Eli’s passion is helping medically fragile patients fight back from helplessness and dignity restored. His presentations and publications in national bioethics journals focus on compassion in emergency departments and against harmful medical records that interfere with adolescents’ care management.
In his words, “Democracy does not thrive when its loudest voices drown out the rest; it thrives when everyone is heard, and equity is fostered."
He was accepted to David C. Frederick Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh.
